Punta Arenas - Magdalena Island

It´s objective is to protect the birds and penguins of this island. Every year there are approximately 10,000 pairs of Magellan penguins, being one of the largest penguin colonies in southern Chile.

After 2 hours navigating, you´ll disembark on Magdalena Island. The sailing along the strait, it´s the same one that once was taken by Francis Drake, Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, Ferdinand Magellan and Charles Darwin.  

Once on land you´ll get more than one hour to walk through a path until you get to the lighthouse and back to the ship. During all your walk you´ll be surrounded with beautiful penguins walking side by side your steps.

Visiting season starts on November till March. The landing craft leaves Tres Puentes terminal in Punta Arenas, in the following schedule.

We encourage you to wear warm and comfortable clothes (preferably waterproof), footwear adequate for walks (like trekking footwear) and sunscreen (biodegradable if possible).
